Trompe l’Oeils: Traditional and Augmented
Through the use of trompe l’oeils, a French term meaning ‘to fool the eye’, architects offer evidence of being able to or a desire to overcome material, economical and even static limitations by expanding a physical space into an imaginary one with paintings and frescos. This can be observed in the church of Sant’Ignazio, which contains two trompe l’oeils: one that adds ornament to the cupola n...

We present a computational method to generate a trompe l’œil on a paper, a 2D image depicting a virtual 3D model in such a way that the model appears to be a real 3D entity when a person views the printed image from specific viewpoint. This method is similar to augmented reality methods which show a virtual 3D model on top of a real world image captured by a camera considering photometric match...

In 1660, Gijsbrechts was accorded membership in the prominent, influential Guild of St. Luke. Over his career...
متن کاملFooling the eyes: trompe l'oeil and reverse perspective.
Trompe l'oeil pictures have been produced for hundreds of years. They attempt to create the impression of a surface that has different three-dimensional structure to the work; successful examples of trompe l'oeil typically constrain the observer's viewpoint and require use of a single eye. The works of Patrick Hughes are in relief but are painted to appear like conventional flat pictures; those...
